Academically trained in the field of Textiles and Embroidery by the Goldsmith's School of Art in London, Jan Eaton is a prolific writer and designer with over 20 books to her name available on Amazon Kindle and Waterstones ,

Of all these books above I've chosen to review the Encyclopaedia of Sewing Techniques because its a practical book that provides complete insight into sewing for the home while still serving as future reference book for after mastering the basic sewing techniques.
The book is divided into the following chapters,
*SEWING MACHINES
*FABRICS
*BASIC SEWING TECHNIQUES
*MAKING GARMENTS
*THE PERSONAL TOUCH
*SEWING FOR THE HOME
Beside covering the basic technicalities of using a sewing machine, like distinguishing between the different types of foots, needles and problem solving, the book also covers the different methods for sewing and how the products can be enriched with traditional handmade stitchery and embroidery.
The information is conveyed in a clear , direct and concise manner and the content is throughout communicated with colourful illustrations and pictures. as you can see by pictures of Jan Eaton's book I captured on my mobile phone,
If you feel sewing might after all be something you are willing to try, you should first of all make use of the Sewing Directory to find further information and technical support for your quest and might be you end up setting up a sewing group of your own.
The Sewing Directory is sponsored by the One Pound Fabric Shop

Until next time ,
Best wishes,
Ariane
