Johnson and Johnson Talc lawsuit , which we in Britain are not even aware in our streets

I was invited for a Briefing today about a lawsuit against Johnson and Johnson because it deliberately caused cancer to women and knowingly advertised the product with asbestos to African American women and people of colour abroad.

With heavy heart I will attend this briefing to hear from who is taking this lawsuit forward on behalf of Afro American women....

BUT I am heavy hearted because in my street , where I live in Penge Johnson and Johnson powder  is sold for one pound at the one pound shop and in the local pharmacies and I have used Johnson and Johnson baby powder until this year under my arm , in my back and legs.

I remember speaking about talcum with women during my pregnancy, at women's groups and seeing the product around in hospitals.

This briefing today regarding the lawsuit is calling all Women of colour ,

The American National Women Health Network spoke a few years about previous lawsuits brought forwards against Johnson and Johnson for disproportionate marketing of the product to women of colour.

Meanwhile I wonder what will happen to also women buying the powder today and in the future in my street because I live in Bromley and , though the product is not disproportionately marketed , is part of the old local culture to have at home and used as a deodorant and body hydrator. 

I wonder because not a single institution informed us about this, though rumours have been heard for years, people like me, always took it as just rumours, hoping that the media or a health public  institution like the NHS would have blocked the sale of Johnson and Johnson powder 

Johnson and Johnson powder and Nivea cream hold a special heart in many families for three generations, being my family one of them, so is with a heavy heart that I say good bye to Johnson and Johnson powder talcum because still means a lot to me, reminds me of my childhood and motherhood.
