New embroidery threads organizer

Today I decided to try another pin at Pin interest  " 20 Burlap projects" as I needed to get rid of some dyed burlap. Out of one of the three pieces, I created a easy and quick organizer for my embroidery threads. What you make of it?
Burlap is such an easy fabric to embroider that took me one podcast of one hour and another of half an hour to finish the project. By the way, what are your favourite podcasts?

What you reckon I should do with the other two pieces of burlap?

Best wishes,

Ariane

Book review : CELTIC DESIGNS by Spinhoven , Dover Publications; 1st edition (2 Jan. 2000)

Celtic Designs by Spinhoven is a true enrichment to any family library and will go down from generation to generation whether you are of Celtic heritage or not. The reason being is that the designs are phenomenally diverse and can be adapted to crochet, knitting, cross stitch, design techniques, rugs , cushions or any other household item you can come up with.

This pictorial book is a mini library of patterns and designs that dispense any accompanying writing and narration.

I really enjoyed making my Celtic rug and will be using the book in the future, however will paint the canvas first instead of counting the stitches, as is a quite demanding work with many turns, decreases and increases that really require 100 per cent attention of the embroiderer.

The pictures above are of my runner. I used tapestry wool and large count canvas.

What are your favourite Celtic design books and how long you usually take to make a rug? Well, on my part, I am a true embarrassment as I take months, even for a simple knitted or crochet blanket will take minimum two months as I do bit by bit in the evenings or as time allows, however, really enjoy the process and is affordable.

Best wishes,

Ariane

Felt Runners, the Beautiful Penny Rugs but yet Thanks but No Thanks!

The Pinterest stunning Penny Rugs, Felt runners, Felt pillows and all the whole lot of Beautiful Christmas or Winter Decorations for that special table and benches.... Yet, the durability of the felt is undeniably short so its not surprising that a few weeks ago I wrote a negative note on the fabric on Pinterest.
The time I take to draw the felt, cut the felt and hand stich it after embellish it with hand embroidery is the well deserved time I take to do something durable as for example a hessian runner with cross stich  designs for that special winter dark week of the year where everything is made for that special yearly picture .

The kids loved their furniture runners with dinosaurs and ginger men and I really felt in love with my very own designed and hand embellished Felt pillow,

But knowing that will only look good and welcome in the winter and also is not made with a very durable fabric makes me say " Thanks, but no thanks- Felt never again!" I feel sorry for the decision but the amount of work I have to do , the projects I do for the home don't leave me much time for anything temporary . I like hessian fabric if bleached to go from brown to golden yellow and makes a wonderful side table runner if well embroidered with cross stich flowers or appliques but again would be seasonal and for that unique Festive season. For the rest of the year in a busy family home where kids run front and back and the pet cat has a fascination for transforming felt into cotton mountains I must say " Sorry beautiful penny rugs and bench covers, but I don't have the time! Thanks , but no thanks!"

A few of my crafts posted on Pinterest

After many frustrating moments with Pinterest , I decided to create my own blog so I can keep up with my crafts and rugs making.

This therapeutic escape to my own ritual of manual work that requires a roll range of skills from needlepoint to sense of precise execution, has rendered me hundred per cent non addicted to social media.

Also has brought new unique items to my family home , which having kids well skilled in the art of making the most of their environment , that are non durable and easily show signs of ageing and wear.

Here we have my first rug as proof. This rug was made last year and here is the present state of my poor rug.

Is one of two rugs made last year. I keep both in my bedroom.

This second rug has not been glued yet.
My last hook rug home addition was designed by me. Is my Kilim inspired Paino seat cover.

After these rugs I made a few wool cross stich cushions out of vervaco and sigar cushion kits.

And I am currently working on a very moody rug

And on my first ever Bell pull tapestry which will undoubtedly and  thankfully have only a decorative purpose as we do not have maids just mommy in the house.
I will be uploading regular pictures of my projects, my shopping and new stiches I am working on.
